AIDIMME works in the design, construction and launch of the prototype of the LIFE Waste2Coag project
Design, construction and launch of the prototype. This is the title of the milestone that is being developed in the LIFE Waste2-Coag project, Brine and metal wastes valorisation to produce coagulants for wastewater treatment.
LIFE Waste2Coag boosts circular economy in water treatment plants and creates synergies with other sectors since industrial scrap metal waste and brines generated in different industries, including wastewater treatment plants and desalination plants, are valorised.
Project objectives
The project seeks a viable and cost-effective solution for brine and metal waste valorisation in order to produce a sustainable coagulant that replaces the currently used commercial coagulants.
The product will be used in water facilities, ensuring the use of resource efficiency for the provision of water services. Therefore, the electrolytic technology applied throughout the process works with renewable energies, turning it into a fully sustainable process, based on the use of waste as raw materials and renewable energies.
B1 Action: design, construction and launch of the prototype
Last week, a team from AIDIMME visited Joviar’s facilities. There, a technical meeting of the project took place as part of action B.1 (design, construction and launch of the prototype).
In this action, P&I is explained and they show the dimensions of the pilot plant in order to identify the optimal location of the prototype in action B5.
The demineralisation system was also examined, where fractions of eluents/brines are generated. The physical-chemical characteristics will be relevant for the selection of the best process conditions for the production of coagulants.
Consortium
The project is coordinated by Global Omnium Medioambiente, SL. The other partners are Aquafin NV, Creaciones Joviar, SL, Isle Utilities BV and AIDIMME.
